HOW WE TESTED OUR BUSINESS MODEL
One Christmas Eve...
...my family and I tested the theory that giving anonymously could actually make the giver feel good.
My kids had amassed quite a collection of teddy bears and stuffed animals over the years. Now that they were in the teen and pre-teen phases of their lives, it was time to let go of the furry critters. Not wanting to throw them away, we carefully laundered the ones that were in good condition.
We packaged up each one in a gift bag along with a note for the receiver. We signed each note The Anonymous Elves. Then, donning our winter coats, we headed out on Christmas Eve and began leaving the gifts on peoples' doorsteps.
Well, the results were immediate. We felt exhilarated. We imagined the expressions on the recipients' faces the next morning when they would find this surprise at their door.
We felt great.
At the end of the night my son turned to me and said, "Mom, I'm going to do this with my kids when I'm older".
So yeah, I'd say the anonymous giving project was a success.
